Five Simple Steps to Making Money Almost “Out of Thin Air"
With Virtual Presentations

Step 1 – You decide to offer a 60- to 90-minute webinar, web class, Facebook Live session or other virtual presentation on a topic of interest to a given audience.

You’ll tell people what you’re going to teach and how they’ll benefit from it. You’ll have them register online (I can help you with that) and send them all the details they need to participate (your presentation’s date and time, the link where they can find it, etc.).

If you’re fortunate and already have an audience of your own, great!

If not, you’ve got 2 options:

First, you could run ads on Facebook to attract people who’d be interested in your presentation. Facebook knows a lot about its users, and you can tell it how to show ads to folks who’d likely want to know about you and what you do.

Second, you could “borrow” someone else’s audience by partnering with someone who already has an email list or social media following of their own. Have them “introduce” you to their followers by promoting your presentation for you.

Why will they promote you to their audience? Because you’ll ultimately give them a portion of any money you make from your presentation (see step 3, below).

I’ve added tens of thousands of people to my email list using this partnership strategy. It’s a brilliant and relatively effortless solution to the problem of not having built up your own list, because the partner does all the work of “drumming up interest” in your presentation.

Best of all, I didn’t have to pay the partners a penny until the people they “introduced” to me bought from me.


Step 2 – You deliver a great presentation that educates those who tune in.

You deliver on the promises you made when you invited people to register.

If you promised them “3 ways to lose weight,” then make sure you tell them at least 3 ways.

If you promised to reveal “7 secrets for making your bank account grow faster,” be certain you don’t sign off until you’ve given at least 7.

(Tip: No one will be upset if you over-deliver, but woe to you if you under-deliver!)

If you do this step right, viewers will enjoy your presentation and get so much value from it they’ll want “more of you.” And that means they’ll be much more likely to buy from you in Step 3…

Step 3 – At the presentation’s end, you offer your audience a resource they can use to continue their progress.

You might offer your book(s), online course, coaching program, seminar, retreat, service or product.

If you have advice to share, one of the easiest things you can offer offer is personal coaching with you.

Another easy offering is a series of paid virtual presentations bundled together at a special price as a group coaching program.

For instance, if you’re a nutritionist, you might create a 6-week coaching program, “6 Weeks to Getting Off Sugar,” which simply consists of a weekly 60-minute webinar during which you teach something, then answer your audience’s questions to help people implement what you’ve taught.


Your offering doesn’t even have to actually exist yet when you first offer it. You’ll make it clear it’s something new you’re launching and perhaps you’ll even give your audience a special pre-release discounted price. People love new things!

If you delivered your presentation to a partner’s audience, you’ll send your partner a portion of the revenue you generate – usually 10% to 50%, depending on what you’re selling (more for digitally delivered offerings, less for physical products). If you’ve done a good job, your partner will be asking you, “When can we do this again?”

If you’re promoting a book, you might find partners who’ll do an “online book signing” with you simply to serve their audience, without expecting any revenue in return. In fact, in some cases such as trade associations and corporate training programs, your partner might even buy a copy of your book and give it to every participant.


Step 4 – Add the registrants to your email list and stay in touch.

The sales you make are only one benefit of doing virtual presentations.

Another big benefit is the larger email list you’ll have afterward. When you had people register, you had them agree to join your email list so you can send them future communications (helpful tips, timely announcements, etc.).

Many people who don’t buy during the first presentation they see from you might buy down the road, after they’ve gotten to know you better through your ongoing emails.

Step 5 – Find a new audience for your existing presentation.


Just as politicians give the same “stump speech” everywhere they go, you can get the most out of your presentation by finding a new audience for it.

That might mean running Facebook ads continually to attract new people interested in your work.

It might also mean finding new partners who’d like to promote you to their audiences. Believe me, when you do a good job for one partner, it will be much easier to get others.
